Units

The value of physical quantity must be expressed in terms of some standard or units. Units are necessary to compare measurements and also to distinguish between different quantities.

Dimensional Analysis

Most physical quantities may be expressed in terms of length L, mass M, and time T. The quantities L,M, and T are dimensions. Units can be raised to a power, and so can the fundamental dimensions.

The heat capacity of a body is the ratio of heat supplied to the corresponding rise in temperature of the body. Heat capacity = Q/T

The specific heat capacity of a material is the quantity of heat required to raise the temperature of a unit mass through one degree. c = Q / mΔT
