Antony and Cleopatra Mind Map

Antony and Cleopatra are a tragedy-based play by William Shakespeare. The plot revolves around Mark Antony, a triumvir and Roman military leader who is madly in love with Cleopatra, the Egyptian queen and past mistress of Pompey and Julius Caesar. Following the death of his wife, Fulvia, who had openly antagonized his fellow triumvir Octavius, Antony is summoned to Rome and marries Octavius' sister, Octavia, to heal the political divide. Antony returns to his lover's arms due to renewed rivalry with Octavius and yearning for Cleopatra. When the competition turns to battle, Cleopatra joins Antony at the Battle of Actium, where her presence proves to be disastrous from a military standpoint. Antony, who is being chased by Octavius, pursues her back to Egypt. Enobarbus, Antony's buddy and faithful officer, quits him and joins Octavius, anticipating the outcome. Octavius eventually defeats Antony in Alexandria. Fearing about her life in face of Antony's increasingly erratic behavior, Cleopatra sends a false report of her suicide, prompting Antony to severely stab himself. He is carried to the queen's hiding location in one of her monuments by his soldiers and dies in her arms. Cleopatra, rather than surrender to Roman invasion, arranges for a venomous snake deliver in basket of figs. She kills herself, surrounded by her loyal slaves Charmian and Iras.
