The Bourne Identity

The Bourne Identity is a 1980 spy fiction thriller by Robert Ludlum that tells the story of Jason Bourne, a man with remarkable survival abilities who has retrograde amnesia, and must seek to discover his true identity. In the process, he must also determine why several shadowy groups, a professional assassin, and the CIA want him dead. The narrative of a man (Matt Damon) who is rescued from the ocean, near death, by an Italian fishing boat. When he wakes up, he has total amnesia and has no idea who he is or where he came from except for a set of amazing combat, language, and self-defense skills that hint at a perilous past. He embarks on a frantic search, aided by Marie, to uncover who he really is and why he's being hunted by assassins. Circumstantial evidence leads Bourne to suspect that he should go to Paris. Jason Bourne discovers his love interest and travel companion, Marie, at the US Embassy, as well as the fact that someone is trying to kill him. Bourne scours Paris for clues about his identity and prior life, armed with a bag of money and unusual martial arts skills, and with Marie by his side... only to find himself in the center of two assassination plots masterminded by the CIA.
