How to Make a Mind Map in PowerPoint
If you want to learn how to create a mind map in PowerPoint, then follow these steps.
To begin, you first need to launch MS PowerPoint 2013 or later version on your desktop and select a blank slide. Press Ctrl + A and then Delete to remove all the text boxes and placeholders from the slide.
To create a mind map PowerPoint, you can either use the basic shapes or select the SmartArt Graphics option, present under the Insert tab.
You will find different shapes under Shapes, such as rectangles, basic shapes, lines, block arrows, equation shapes, flow charts, etc. To draft a concept map using Shapes, select the desired shape for your main topic, and place it in the middle of the slide. Then add more shapes around the main topic for key elements that relate to the main topic. Add lines as crosslinks or branches to connect the shapes. Finally, add text within the shapes to complete your mind map in PowerPoint.
You can also use the SmartArt option given in the Insert Tab to make a PowerPoint mind map. Simply click on the icon and wait for the pop-up window to appear on the screen. Different types of charts will appear for you to choose from. Click on Relationship, scroll down to select Diverging Radial and click on OK to insert the map on your page.
MS PowerPoint has many formatting options to edit and customize the mind map. You can use tools in the Home tab, Insert tab, and Format tab to customize your mind map. Add colors, images, watermarks, and other visual signifiers like illustrations and graphics. Keep editing until you are satisfied with how the mind map looks.
Once you have finished designing your mind map, click on File > Save. A sub-window will launch; name your file, browse file, location and click on Save to store your document.
How to Make a Mind Map in MindMaster
If you are looking for software that is designed especially for mind maps, then you can use MindMaster. Although anyone can make a mind map in PowerPoint, it lacks custom features and drawing tools. Hence, making a mind map in PowerPoint comes with its limitations. While on the other hand, MindMaster has many mind map templates which you will not find anywhere else.

Launch the software and select the one desired template. Or, you can launch a blank page where you can make your own mind map from scratch.
To create a mind map in MindMaster, we will make one from scratch using the tools present in MindMaster. To draw a mind map, you will use different diagrammatic tools, i.e., Topic, SubTopics, Floating topics, etc. which are placed in the Home tab. Use these tools to draft a mind map, click on Topic, and then click on the screen to insert it on your map. Similarly, keep adding until your mind map is complete. Once you have drafted the map, add text in the boxes.
